ES almost always have unlocked multipliers, so there's a ton of fun to play with. You can slow it down to the level of the Cellie, and still have bragging rights. Good find!

A Geforce 2 GTS would be more suitable, period-wise. But in the end, it's your call. I had an M64 coupled with a Celeron 500 on an already "old" P2L97 in 2000. It did its job though, and I have fond memories of that system.

You might check the voltage output of the VRM's on the board, to see if they are still in spec. Caps are less likely, but I am no specialist. Perhaps you had an unfortunate short or something else that killed - or hopefully just stunned - the board.

Have a look at the tualatin chipset comparisons here in other threads. The Tualatin benefits in real world less from DDR than, say, the Athlon and the PIV do. Still, both dual channel SDR-Sdram and DDR-Sdram increase your Tualatin bragging rights tenfold.

The card has indeed that tiny switch at the back. On my card, it's in position 1 UP and 2 Down. I'll see whether I can check the rail on the card. I have no equipment to test the MLCC's for their values...

The PSU is a 620W Corsair,plenty of power on either rail. The P4 is not too hungry, so I'mstill unsure what the main issue is.

Awaiting a ZIP 750 USB drive. I did not particularly want it and I obviously don't need it, but as I have about every other ZIP-version, I felt wrong to pass on this for 15 EUR inclusive. I was not even aware they did 750MB drives until recently.

Those Chieftec/Antec cases are vintage 2002-04 so perfect for that mainboard. I run my AGP tests on a similar platform.
