From all I have heard the later s3 cards had really bad driver issues, off hand I would say that it it dead. But since it works in xp under the MS drivers that means that it does function. Overall seems like a big headache, for DOS compatibility you could pick up any number of card's for cheap. …

I put quad 512mb sticks of ram in mine, freshly wiped 80 hard drive and a ATI 9550 256mb agp card in it before donating it to my Filipino step-grandmother's relatives in the Philippines. We sent a crate of half decent p4 rigs (mostly 775) to them, they run a internet cafe.

Somewhat related, I have been playing Space Engineers on a P4 system lately. 3.8ghz p4 OC'd to 4.3, 4gb of DDR2 667 and a Geforce 8800GT 512mb. This system makes me regret ever building a multi core rig.

PS: I have that exact Asus Geforce2 Pro card, have yet to test it out but I loved the fact that it matches alot of Pentium2-3 era motherboard PCB's. There is nothing I hate more than a yellowish green motherboard with a bright red GPU. Just a minor pet peeve x)

http://www.anandtech.com/show/678/3 awesome article, shows that the Pro is the way to go. Most likely only marginally faster but hey! I have to agree with suniac, take the sexiest one that looks good with your rig and upgrade to a faster card later on.

sutekh94:I love the k6 rig, needs a little bit of cable management and some refinement but that will be a sweet system! Also the Slot A system would be awesome in a little MATX case, with space being at a premium Iv grown to love small rigs x) not to mention itd make a great retro-lanbox!

I dont mean to derail this conversation from the original post, but my SB16 has a bunch of Rubycons on it. The guy I got it from is a soldering master, so is it reasonable to assume that he recapped it at some point because of the noise issues?

775 and 939, pretty much early Dual core. Dont remember the model but I had a matx ASUS board with DDR and agp in socket 775. Supported up to a 3.0ghz Core2duo. It ended up tossed with catastrophic failure caused by a plugged up cpu fan. (not from my own rig btw)
