Stripped down the two PC's I got earlier this week. The i5 2500k, EVGA P67 and 750ti will upgrade my sister's Phenom ii x2 ddr2 machine that is using an hd 6870 2gb card that has been lacking instruction sets and good drivers that have prevented her from playing some newer games for awhile now. …

Why bother trying to save this bottom of the barrel Geforce ? For a media player PC ? Well the HD 6450 in my parent's Dell XPS died, (so did their PSU) so I slapped a gtx 750 ti and Antec 380 watt psu in there for them. Got this Geforce in 1st gen i5 XPS I picked up and wanted to swap the 750 ti …

Had a Geforce 310 (weird OEM 210) with one of those tiny paper thin heatsinks and pathetic dying fan. So dug through the box of spare parts and swapped the passive heatsink from a Geforce 4 mx 460 onto it. At 31 watts tdp hopefully it's enough cooling for this craptastic card. Neat, now the card …

I always buy datacenter scrap parts whenever I do a new home server or network related build. The longevity is pretty astounding. I've even taken home scrapped parts from work that previously ran 24/7/365 for 8 years straight, then ran them for another 5 years at home (again 24/7/365) without …

Got my AsRock x370 SLI Killer A/C installed and all my hardware swapped in. Luckily it had a Ryzen 2000 ready sticker on the box so I didnt have to contact AsRock for a loaner cpu. Everything works great! Only thing left is to clone my 250gb Samsung over to the new WD 1tb NVME drive and I can …

Have fun, eh? I need to upgrade to a Ryzen and install nVME drives over the 480GB SSD, 1TB SSHD, and 1TB HDD. Might get a board that supports 3 of them and get a 1TB for the OS, and 2TB for the two 1TB drives for more storage. I was going to, but my B450 Tomahawk died before I could do any gaming. …

Re: What sound card do you use on your modern PC ?

Creative Soundblaster Z. My onboard audio on my B450 Tomahawk Max wont output anything from the back panel connectors, was an Open Box purchase that sat for a few months before utilizing it, so it was a neccesary purchase. Leaps and bounds nicer than anything iv ever used before.
