Picking up a free Dell latitude e5510 along with an old D600. E5510 needs drive/Cady and ram, has a 2nd gen i3. D600 might make a good retro laptop. 1.7 Pentium M with Radeon 9000 graphics.

GeForce 6200 is a good cheap common option. I put one in an elderly friends XP box for her a couple years back. 240p video was painful on the Intel igp, ended up playing 1080p videos on it after that. My advice would also be to get it up to 2gb. XP is just so much better with 2+gb of ram.

If it is a passive card add a fan. If t is not maybe add on of those blower cooler that adds a fan to the slot next to it.

Someone on here has (or had) a 4600 with 3.(whatever) due the bios limitations of ram (4x1gb sticks) as well as an HD4k AGP card, along with an intel Extreme edition 3.4 P4 😜

I put a GeForce 8400gs in a 3.06/512/533 HT P4 machine and was super disappointed with the results. At least under Vista it is almost useless for HD video.

I remember my tech friend telling me about the employee still running a P2 Dell running XP until the end of support in 2014. Apparently it had a Rage card and 128mb of ram on the original 98 to XP upgrade. The OEM 98 files were still on the 20gb Maxtor drive o.0

Love it! Is that the 4100 out of the case you used for Beigelake? There is a guy on eBay that sells adaptors to use standard PSU's with those 4100 motherboards, iff you ever want to put something more power hungry in it GPU wise. Although for a 200watt PSU the stock unit is built like a tank.

Helping a friend by giving him four 2gb sticks of DDR2 800 for his PC. His heat damaged q6600 won't OC at all so I think we are going to snag a Q9550 off eBay. (Q6600 came out of a dead dust clogged Dell)

Agp is SS7/Slot 1 territory. So think K6-2 and Pentium 2. For 486 you are limited to motherboards with ISA only, VLB (32bit extended ISA) or pci and ISA. Also some other more obscure and rare slots like eisa and mca. I'd suggest checking out the Vogon's wiki 😀

A friend is swapping his phenom iix2 out for a fx-6300. I'm gunna see if I can get the cores to unlock in my AsRock N68 am2-am3 board. Free phenom ii dual or quad will be a sick upgrade from the Athlon 64x2 7750

Motherboard and such is usually around 36-40C while the RX480 sits around 80c playing stuff like Mass Effect Andromeda or anything super stressful. The fan spins up and it just stays at 80. The CoolerMaster Haf XB it was in was roughly the same, just the GPU fan now needs a couple hundred extra RPM …
