Re: New forum suggestions/Feedback

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but I think there may be a bug in the attachments function. When I try to attach a fifth photo to a post, I get an error message saying that the maximum number of attachments is five. It just happened in this thread: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php …

Hi everyone, Thanks for your patience as I continue to work through issues as time allows. [hr] It's broken, just not too badly yet. It will only get worse. https://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability-list/vendor_id-74/product_id-128/version_id-298516/PHP-PHP-5.6.40.html Old versions of phpBB are …

I have just noticed that the rendition of [list=1] [*] [*] …[/list] has changed and now in https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=68756 is numbered as 1 when before there was no number. I could move outside the list, but when I tried this I got a blank line that I do not wish to have. If this …

Is there a possibility of adding markdown? It's so much cleaner and easier than bbcode. I was thinking about this too during the development process. The biggest practical barrier (other than time) is that Markdown does not have a standard way to associate metadata with quotes, which is a problem …

I also can’t figure out why the spec sheet for your monitor says it’s an IPS panel but also that it uses FRC to render 8-bit colour. If true, maybe it explains why there is a bigger problem with this monitor, though I guess I also need to learn if any monitors don’t have this problem and are also …

Thanks everyone for taking the time to run some tests for me! I should take this time to mention that I'm running my display in a full 10bit config card > screen @ 98hz. So keep that in mind. I also do not see the reduce flicker option that you mentioned. Oh, OK. I guess it is not switchable—I …

It is safe to assume a line width of a least 72 characters, which is standard in plain-text files. Small phones in portrait mode (e.g. iPhone SE) show a maximum of 33 characters in monospace at a standard size, so no, I am afraid it is not safe to assume a 72 character minimum these days :-) …

[…]flickering[…] […]flickering[…] I set up this demonstrator to test different patterns and colours. It’s a big playground so try not to go crazy with the feedback :-) Instead, at the moment please start by answering these things: Using the default (“Reset normal”) settings: 1. On which patterns is …

I'm not trying to pile on here and maybe it's not the dithering but the color saturation with the new scheme that causes the flickering? I've no problem displaying bright white on a dark gray background and scrolling without any flickering on either my Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ, or shitty 99$ ASUS …

The background colour is pretty powerful but I prefer a good contrast over the all too common light grey text on a white background that has me bobbing my head to find a workable viewing angle. Yup, the overall choice of bright-on-dark is very welcome; screens are not paper. OTOH there are …

forum is flooding mailbox with info about every single post made in a thread. In the past it was only one email till you visit that thread. Hi everyone, Sorry for not being communicative, some internet bad guy decided to stress test the new site by attacking it, so instead of fixing bugs and improving usability I instead used my time at the weekend on mitigations. The good news is the mitigations also make loading images a whole lot …

So essentially, it's too complicated and not worth the effort. I know theming in CSS can be a donating task to undertake on the surface but I have a hard time believing that when others have made their own changes with nothing more then a few lines of code. There’s a significant difference between …
