ME, just like every other win 9x version, is running above dos and REQUIRES that this is installed, to be able to run. Microsoft has tried to hide whatever is DOS related, but you can still boot to real DOS and play games without a windows shell. But with a little effort to enable this option 😜

SP3 slows down older computers considerably. The memory footprint is also higher. Try running a computer that meets the recommended requirements with XP SP3. It'll be a dog! Oh, wait, a turtle or a dinosaur I would better say 😜
