well , on the one hand that machine is overkill , my last machine was a Phenom II and it was enough to run Max Payne 3 above 60fps , let alone something like Doom 3 or Oblivion. then again , Im doing the same in regards to XP at the moment, so I can't fault that logic.

a 3Ghz P4 is just fine for Doom 3 , I ran the game back in the day on an Athlon XP 2100 , and it ran fine. its the GPU that would need a boost in this case, with a GF4 the game will probably look more like the Xbox version

Max Payne 1 and 2 would be great choices for this system (well , MP2 could use a bit more GPU power , but this should do fine)

you want both , the Voodoo isn't a video card per se, its a 3D accelerator, so you still need a 2D card like that S3 for everything non 3D related

would be interesting if you could test that 6600, if it does work , then it should also work on something like a 6800, which would make the game very playable at a decent resolution (especially if it manages to work in a newer machine where CPU bottlenecks aren't an issue.
