I pushed the FX55 to 3 GHz which is as far as it will go with 1.5V. It did at least get a few more FPS. 120.7 FPS 1024*768 Ultra AMD64 FX55@3.0, A8N32-SLI Nforce4, 2X1GB DDR500 CL2.5-3-3-5, Geforce 7900GTX 92.91, onboard audio, XP-sp3

A maxed out year 2005 single GPU system with AMD64 FX57 and a 7900GTX is hardly any faster than a maxed out single GPU, year 2004 system with FX55 and 6800Ultra. At 1024*768 Ultra the diffrence is ~10%, I guess it will be larger at higher resolution. I will try a dual core A64 to see if that …

I did a better stock run with the FX55 and the Asus board. 1024*768 Ultra 101.2 FPS I am still not even close to Steves result clock for clock but without USB audio and some OS optimizing the FX55 at least managed to beat the 3700+ San Diego. The memory is 2x1GB DDR500 3-3-3-8 but the nearest …

The X marks that the same system has a higher score with another GPU or overclocked CPU. But sure we can split the list into stock and overclocked 😀

If the board dosnt even try to power on a shot circuit seems likely or the board simply hates the PSU. The short on canterwood boards are sadly often a burned VRM so check those. Thermal paste in the CPU socket is another possible cause, try to reseat the CPU a couple of times or as a last resource …
