I was asking if the old AT psus lack short circuit protection. I read that good quality modern psus just die rather than take the rest of the system with it.

So like you were saying, A brand new AT psu would be the same in quality as a low end ATX psu in quality and fault tolerance? Tell you what, if I check for bad caps every year and do psu tests, I should be good? Are there any AT psu testers still around that can give thorough diagnostics?

The amount of software you can run in the 386 increases mostly because you'll be able to use EMM386 (or similar), not because of the speed. They have new AT PSUs online. Are AT PSUs easy to test for faults and if an AT PSU dies will it fry the rest of the system?

Was DOS Shell considered an alternative to pairing DOS with Windows back in the day? It sure looks like Win3.x File Manager to me.

I'd suggest Cinemaster 99 after my experimentation with the different options awhile back. But I'm not sure what works in Win95. KLite 3.45 is indeed a great option for 98SE. I see special ISA dial up cards that have a beep speaker on the card itself as well as 3.5mm audio ports on the back with the phone cable plugs. How did they work and was there actual wav audio coming from the cards speaker?

How good were these OS's? I heard OS/2 Warp can run Windows programs. Which ones? Can it even play DirectX Win9x games? How was security? Ease of use?
