Re: Collecting rants

That's more of a rant against oneself of course x3 tl;dr: I bought an Amiga. I've had an Amiga 1200 for like three years and I never use it because it's a PAL 1200 and I don't want to pay 180 dollars for a flicker fixer or take my chances that I can find a compatible LCD monitor to use with an …

Re: gus hardware module player list

A lot of them supported the GUS as well . The question is not just if they supported GUS for playback, but if they actually used it for mixing instead of software. I know, but that is what the OP wants to verify . I am just providing some more "players" to add to his list of "players" to check for …

Re: Collecting rants

rant: when you buy something really expensive, and now that you've done that you need to follow up and spend even more money on it to make it really worthwhile x3 That's more of a rant against oneself and it's definitely something I can identify with . One (usually expensive) purchase turns into …

Re: gus hardware module player list

Gravis Ultrasound was best used to play amiga music on pc. I think everyone that walk the extra mile to get a GUS do want to make sure he listen to a module player that use the actual hardware. So I started a list of player that use the GUS. Now I have to check out if they really use the gf1 or if …

Re: Aureal Vortex 2 has no Wavetable under 98SE DOS

I understand your desire to get a working DOS audio setup . As Appiah said, an ISA sound card is not an absolute necessity, especially with later DOS games. Aureal, along with Yamaha and ESS made some of the better DOS compatible PCI sound chipsets . DOS compatibility wise, the Aureal AU8830 is a …

Re: Addonics A151-910 YMF718-S Card Resource Conflicts

It is still detected in SETYMF, and I can even play sounds through it from that utility. It may be that Windows is seeing it as something else as it did try installing a bunch of odd drivers for it like SoundBlaster Pro and Windows Sound System drivers alongside each other. The Yamaha drivers are …

Re: Addonics A151-910 YMF718-S Card Resource Conflicts

Probably a really stupid question because it's likely in that document you linked somewhere, but on the software, on some of the options, it has A, B, or disabled. What does the A and B mean? Sorry, for the delayed response . A and B are variables for IRQ A and IRQ B, which are defined at the top …

Re: Aureal Vortex 2 has no Wavetable under 98SE DOS

The nForce chipsets do not have what is required for PCI sound cards to work under pure DOS. The most you will usually get is FM because it doesn't require an IRQ or DMA. And DOS functionality on an Nforce2 in a Windows 9x DOS box does not seem to be that great either, according to what I've read .

Re: Aureal Vortex 2 has no Wavetable under 98SE DOS

The Ethernet driver definitely won't help. I doubt the SMBUS driver will change anything either . The Windows version of DOSBOX (the DOS emulator) definitely works with MIDI devices under Windows, whether they are virtual (Munt, Coolsoft MIDI synth, etc) or physical (Windows supported MIDI …

Re: Modem usage

Ozzuneoj wrote on 2020-06-23, 18:06: Okay, here you go guys: Strangest modem ever... with hardware wavetable. Probably not as interesting as you were hoping. 😁 It is cool. I had forgotten about the ESS foray into modem chipsets . My guesses were an MWAVE or one of those Aztech/Packard Bell modem/ …

Re: Aureal Vortex 2 has no Wavetable under 98SE DOS

It gives me IRQ and DMA options in the bios, only obstacle that I can see is knowing what settings to change It's not just that . There is a reason I asked you to run specific aforementioned tests. The fact that, under Windows, DOS software that would normally just use port 388h (Adlib) or port …

You are using an nForce board. Good luck with that. It gives me IRQ and DMA options in the bios, only obstacle that I can see is knowing what settings to change It's not just that .
