Re: Mortal Kombat II problems

Ok, I have scoured the bowels of the Internet and am quite confident that your motherboard is either a Trigem Anaheim-2 or Anaheim-2a with a CS4280 . I found what I believe are the original drivers provided by Trigem here http://www.elhvb.com/mobokive/archive/Trigem/drivers/Sound/Cs4280/ I have …

Re: Freedos alongside Win98SE

but it might be easier just to toggle the boot order in your BIOS when you want to switch. I agree 100% . Boot managers can be a pain to fix when things inevitably break . If you are only going to be switching occasionally, best to do it through BIOS . I also concur about Mortal Kombat 2; Freedos …

Re: Scaler for retro-to-4k TV

Greetings, I am using a Sewell Hammerhead on a smaller 4k TV ever since I discovered that my series 6 TCL 4k TV stretches VGA resolutions (the series 5 does not.) The problem with the Hammer head is that is cuts off the bottom line or so (can't see the flashing cursor or the bottoms of q's and g's …

Re: Mortal Kombat II problems

OK, I will try to dig up my CS4630 this evening, and attempt to replicate the issue you are experiencing . I have an Asus P3B-F based Windows 98SE machine I should be able to use as a testbed . If that fails, we could give the ES1370 a shot . It will require EMM386.EXE to be loaded so it may limit …

Re: Mortal Kombat II problems

Question: Do you know if those drivers you linked are .WDM? I’d like to use daemon tools for some games on my Win98SE computer. They are vxd, the wdm ones do not have pure DOS support . Once you have DOS support working, you could simply backup the Dworking DOS init utilities and install the wdm …

Re: Mortal Kombat II problems

If cwcdos still does not work but you would like to press on trying to get it to work maybe you can start a thread about it. I have a CS4630 based card in storage, but have not used in over 15 years and did not use it in much in DOS ( used XP at the time), and do not remember what I used to …

Re: Mortal Kombat II problems

if you can't get cwcdos.exe to at least detect the card, I suggest getting an other card with better native DOS support (ou should be able to disable this one in BIOS) .The PCI Crystal chips have a less than ideal OPL3 implementation anyway . If cwcdos.exe works, we can mobe on to the next step .

Re: Mortal Kombat II problems

OK, your best bet is installing this driver set https://web.archive.org/web/20041230172145/http://www.cirrus.com/en/software/drivers/audio/PV2885.zip by unzipping and running setup.exe under Windows . That should install everything you need . If the version of cwcdos.exe it installs still does not …

Re: Mortal Kombat II problems

Thanks for that . Apparently, CS4280/CS4614/CS4624/CS4630 all have the same device IDs and similar functionality under DOS ( but different capabilities under Windows ) . The Windows 98 SE drivers I found do not seem to have pure DOS support at all . Let me dig a bit and I will get back to you this …
