Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

i found that latest version of sbvgm (1.30) is not working well. i tried to play rydeen.vgz from vgmrips.net/packs/pack/super-locomotive-arcade which is fine when using 1.28 and the latest version skipped some segments while playing. i don't know whether it's my computer's problem because it's not …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

it took me some times to get back to it, but I have good new. the vgmtool 2 release 5 option to optimize VGM and remove silent PSG/offsets fixed that "bell" issue. I have added two files to that post, the vgm is original and the .vgz is the fixed one by vgmtool. Enjoy the difference :) now I hope …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

Pretty nice analysis! I think there are probably a lot of music that used that method. One thing also though is that on the SN76489 setting the note value to 0 causes the hardware to set the square wave output to a high state which some games or demos used this side effect for sample playback on the …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

I realize the .VGM GD3 dont provide much information about what ripper they used. But they left them name and with the info text file I was able to track them down to the sega retro forum where it appear that kega "log to VGM" seem to be their software of predilection. While I was at it, I did try …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

Hi, I don't sell Mod Master and SBVGM will not be integrated in my file. Here is how it looks like: https://youtu.be/F4V6ax5b83c Wow! It looks nice! I wish I kept my Gravis Ultrasound from many years ago. By the way, since SBVGM already displays "by OPLx" when run, you don't have to add in the " …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

Hi OPLx, Thanks for your software. I would like to add SBVGM in my Mod Master player. If you don't know it it is a .MOD player for XT computers. My goal is to have a all in one software from where ye can play various music on XT computers, not only .MOD I already implement it, we can browse and …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

I'm glad you were able to find out the source of the delay! Thinking about it a little bit more, it's also possible that the deadfish player may be waiting on the V-SYNC signal (for updates) which is not exactly 60Hz. The Maxim player seems to be one that would be more accurate given the care to the …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

Thanks for sharing the results. I think the de-sync you are hearing is either the Master System VGM player is not 100% accurate. It might be the implementation is not using CPU interrupts and could be polling the CPU (which could introduce the subtle delay). The other possibility is simply that …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

Hi OPLx, I was searching for a way to listen to .VGM from the ym2612 from the genesis/megadrive. When I heard about rom vgm player, sdcard cartdrige and that the genesis was hardware compatible with the sega master system I could not resist buying one. So now I'm curious about to compare playing a …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

I feel so silly, I forgot what was the RP2A03 and a search lead me to believe it was a soundcard like the opl2ltp with an arduino-like device. I hope you forgive me, I know very little about the NES. I've read about the DPCM and it's usage. I see it does not affect the few music I like to listen …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

The next best thing after I realize a new version of sbvgm is out is reading the what's new history. It's usually added support for hardware that don't concern my SB1.5+CMS setup. But this time I was very intrigued by this line of text: * SA1099 RP2A03 emulation improvements; use only one SA1099 …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

ok. Their is a c library that does vgm playback for colecovision that I've been using it supports muiltiple music songs in 1 compressed file colecovision has Texas Instruments SN76489A PSG which is similar to the tandy and the sega master system it updates during the video blank 60 times per second …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

I would love to add vgm playback to a tandy 1000 game I am making. Is there a c++ library by chance? It sounds great on the tandy vgm 's I played with it. Unfortunately there currently isn't a library available. I haven't done any timings per se, but I would reckon that the amount of CPU time used …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

I'm experiencing a bug where the latest version (1.26) doesn't detect my PnP Sound Blaster 16 no matter what I do. It just says: SBVGM v1.26 by OPLx Searching for sound hardware ... * None! My BLASTER variable is the usual A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6 I tried both the 16 and 32 bit versions, in DOS (no …

Re: CMS music and envelope control

in Marvin \ Sound
Here you go envelope.zip This is a really basic test, all it's supposed to do is to output a tone, then turn on the envelope control of the generator 0 by setting 1000 0000 in the 0x18 register, and then it tests 8 settings (bits En1 to En3). In dosbox this has an effect. On my sound blaster 2.0, …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

Hello. Would somebody be so kind as to provide me with an alternate download link? The website has been dead for some days now, it seems. Thank you. Hello, sorry about the inconvenience. I'm currently getting some DNS issues worked out with my ISP. You can download the most recent version here for …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

Yes I can do that with vgmtool 2. I'll fix my miracle warrior soundtrack. But I encourage you go on with your idea and make that sbvgm wont use another hardware if forced. I'll keep a bogus version of that soundtrack to test it if you ever do it. I couldn't help myself but to upload a screenshot of …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

I read that the vgm format support many hardware into one music : it can record a practically unlimited number of sound hardware changes per sample. so it's only mwopl.vgm music that make useless call to sn76489 hardware, I understand we are not facing a bug but an unexpected operation. Obviously …

Re: SBVGM (DOS) VGM Player

Hi OPLx, I realized past weekend there was a problem with a soundtrack, so I wanted to investigate a bit more and post as much info about it. But as I made the package and noted the anomaly I realized that we already had a problem with this soundtrack and you fixed it in 1.14 where a vgm have …
