Vogons has two drivers for AC'97: 3.41 and 3.62 There is also 3.26 here: http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1320&menustate=41,37 It wouldn't hurt to try :) And I have 3.72 on my HDD if you are interested, but file is too big to upload it here (15.6 MB). Any idea what could be wrong with my 286? (It is a Philips P2230 with a G2 chipset and quite a limited BIOS rom). I installed a Trident TVGA9000 and that is working fine btw. Although this is not direct answer to your question, there are schematics available for Cirrus Logic Alpine family (CL-GD5430, 5434, 5436 and 5440).
