Check every little leg of the chips closely and see if none of them touch another. I have seen this happen with 3dfx cards. A very small needle can help in this case... just my 2cts

okay.......so after all these years i now learned there IS a way to play screamer 1 and destruction derby on a higher resolution, and it is with a S3 card!! Omg, i never liked those cards but am glad i kept some around. Thanx a LOT for all the info and great video`s!!

Agp issues all come from the early days in my opinion because neither ali or via had a stable driver for it (and it took them way too long). Nvidia was to blame also, their drivers improved stability also. Later driver revisions worked much better but the word was out that they didn`t work stable …

Don`t think so. In 2004 nobody would have bought a game that didn`t support directx. After win95/98 there is no official support for dos from microsoft and only emulated versions came with winME, winxp etc.

My favorite system is the one based on the p5a, it does everything great. I have multiple ss7 boards but i simply love the Asus. You indeed do need the 1.03 or 1.04 for the + cpu`s but the 1.06 works fine with a normal k6-3 450mhz (i have all three boards). Agp is no issue with mine: only tnt2 cards …

I remember Ati always had bad drivers, blocky smoke etc. Rendition was good only when directly supported in a game, while 3dfx just worked in every accelerated game. Never failed to amaze me at the time.

Well.....wait a while longer and prices will be back where they were when they were new.....just checked ebay.com and pffffft....prices are steep over there in the states. Boxed prices are insane! If 3dfx only knew, they would have kept a lot of boxes :lol: I am spoiled over here in the netherlands!
