Does anyone know of an HDMI to VGA converter that does at least 1600x1200 at 75Hz (or better). The pixel clock in most of the adapters is limited to 165MHz so it should theoretically work, but I bet it doesn't.. Why? HDCP. It's possible to buy cheap HDMI splitters that report that HDCP is ok, …

1994 Windows games? Shouldn't be a problem, then. You might even get away with one modern system dual booted between Windows 8.1 and XP. If not, just a second system running 9x.

Sure, but Directsound 3D is still present in Vista onwards, it's just that the accelerated extensions are missing. If Oblivion isn't using EAX, what is it using?

Oblivion may support EAX out of the box - it's on the Alchemy supported games list, so I'm not sure why Creative list it and include it in Alchemy if it's not used. I'll have to look..
