Vetz' video is da bomb diggity. I have a PowerVR PCX2 card, and you can get the files to modify a standard install of Mech2 to PowerVR version. I haven't gotten around to it yet. The cards are crazy rare though, and their compatibility is very narrow.

I blame ATi. The RAGE version of MechWarrior 2 is locked to 512x384. As I recall some Xbox 360 games were slightly letterboxed so the game didn't have to render the full 720 lines. Could be similar thinking. 340 is pretty low, 480 stresses the hardware too much, let's bump it by just a touch.

Falcon 3.0 probably just needs more memory on account of all those buttons. I don't plan on using my testbed system, or Win 98 system to do much in the way of DOS, so it's a single system set up.

AHA! With that line fixed, EM mode gives me 616K! Which is enough for Falcon 3.0! Still surprised I can't get that much with CD rom and mouse LH'd.

The XM option loads HIMEM, EM is for expanded memory only. Even with XM (which is mouse in devicehigh, no CD, HIMEM) I only end up with 582ish Kb when all is said and loaded. EDIT: On Windows 95 with a single 128MB stick o' RAM.

I tried copying all the files from Falcon 3.0's four install diskettes and installing them from the hard drive. Turns out the 3rd disk has a corrupt file. So that explains why it wouldn't install. If you're really committed to making the Tecra work, I'd say buying a parts machine isn't too expensive. If you wanted to get it running again on a lark, maybe now is the time to shelve it and build a different machine.

It sounds like you're describing wadded up tissue paper. My scouring of eBay for Tecra parts turned up only those for-parts laptops, and a few optical drive caddies.
