I used i5comp to install the game. Then I use DOSBox 0.74 to play the software version or DOSBox Daum to play the 3Dfx version. Both versions run without any problems on my Windows 7 PC, with intro/cutscenes and music.

If you are running Windows, then first mount the VHD-file with Windows disk manager and then mount the new drive in DOSBox.

You need the full path after the -conf parameter: "C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.74\DOSBox.exe" -conf "C:\path\to\file\systemshock1.conf" unless you have dosbox.exe and the conf file in the same directory.
