I have to play around a bit more. Currently I'm in AWE at the sound this thing generates 😊 This deserves a video tutorial I think 😀 EDIT: In Privateer, the SC-88 Pro mode appears to sound more "epic". I can certainly change the mode, reset it, that seems to work fine.

Great news! Now, how to use it? Seeing this is a plugin, it what is a good host to use this with? It will need to appear as a MIDI device to Windows, so we can use DOSBox or ScummVM with it. What free programs are recommended?

You can use Ultimate Boot CD, it has some tools that can tell you what card you have. I think it reads the card's BIOS information. I'd rather just be able to identify them visually, though I never even thought of using a boot CD for this, will need to download and burn one then, cheers! :) I'm …

I tried 3 machines so far, working well. One more machine to test will be a 386. That's as old as I go. I don't have any XT/AT/286 stuff 😀

Thanks for the suggestions! "perfect" widescreen support is debatable:) There is sometimes HUD stretching, and in the case of Splinter Cell, mouse offset in some parts. WSGF is a great resource for all of this. But this is not what this project is about.

I just got one very similar (sitting on an expansion slot backplate so you can change the card without opening the machine's case) and it's the only thing that works in my 286 with an ISA IDE controller, apart from a real IDE disk.
