EDIT: I forgot about the ATI 9100! Its the same as a Radeon 8500LE with 64meg of memory 250 CPU & 500 Memory, it has 8 texture units compared to 4 in the FX series, that should be the fastest era card for windows 98 but the Nvidia might be a better combo card for dos/windows, don't know. …

I always use PC133 memory in PC100 machines. The reason is that you can run them at tighter timings. For example if you read the SPD of a PC133 memory, it's typciall CL3 at 133, but CL2 at 100. So on a PC100 machine, set the CL to CL2 and you get a nice speed boost.

I've got, I think, two IDE drives. Work has a, basically limitless supply of old SATA drives. Mostly 80, 160 and 500 GB drives.

I believe that 4 sticks will consume more power. Potentially more memory could also be less stable. I try to go with a single stick if I have the capacity, or two sticks if it's a dual channel memory machine.

I really need optical discs for my old retro games. I haven't seen anything in the way of ODD emulators, but the writing is on the wall. Something like a GOTEK, but for optical drives. With CD Audio support please 😀

Cool. Got a bit of a "gap" with these older NV cards. Recently got a TNT2. But haven't got any of the other pre-GF4 card. Quadro2 Pro would be kinda similar to the Quadro4 380 XGL? Not the same of course, but similar enough?

AFAIK the difference is all in the drivers. I remember modding some Radeon card, a 9700 maybe. You removed a resistor and BAM it was a Fire GL card 😀 You can force the GeForce driver onto a Quadro. You can likely also flash the BIOS but I haven't tried any of this yet.
