Yea they work quite well. They might not have as many BIOS options, but that's really a non issue IMO. I don't overclock and the BIOS defaults usually do the trick. I rather have stability over a bit of extra performance.

There is a reason why everyone recommends BX440 😀 Just wait for a board to become available. Also consider Socket 370 stuff with Intel 815 chipset. And consider OEM boards, I have two awesome Acer Boards, Socket 370, 815 chipset, Pentium III-S support.

Who cares what you paid for it. Life is short and time is money and lots of time and money down the drain looking on eBay and trying to find a bargain. As long as the price isn't outrageous I say go for it and enjoy yourself.

We are in the same situation :) I also have SIL3112 and the lack of DMA is a real bummer under Windows 98. Ordered SIL3512 controllers from eBay but they won't be here for a while. But I have a different / maybe better solution. I use SATA to IDE adapters and no issue with SATA II or SATA III drives …

Is the AGP Voodoo 3 a good card for "buggy AGP boards" because it doesn't use any AGP features? That would make sense.

Yes there is also a console command s_wavetracing which configms A3D 2.0 being used or not. I use the settings of YouTube user Hira who has tons of A3D videos.
