I always check every floppy, HDD, CD etc. that I get from a thrift store or find in the wild. I'd hate to be caught storing child porn or other illegal material if my home gets raided by mistake or by some jealous neighbors call.

True, but back then most images were 640x480/800x600 in size and the video clips were mpeg-1 quality instead of the full HD and 4K we have now. There's no limit as to how much bandwidth you can use when everything grows in size.

I always check the games specs (release year, recommended specs) and then choose the optimal hardware for it, meaning something that was available at that time.

That's insane! I print files over network printer that are anywhere from 1.5-5 Mb in size! I can just live with the 5-6 Mbps I get to my office (others get around 15-20 Mbps).

Check if it has RGB BNC-connectors like this Sony does. Otherwise you are stuck with S-video or composite. edit: Also note, many of these have mono audio only. You might want to use separate speakers. You should also check if the screen has any burn-in, try to get one without if possible.
