I've got quite a number of BigFoot drives. They all work perfectly and ideal for taking up those 5.25" drive bays without adapters. Currently have one in my 386DX25 and XT Turbo systems. Good point. But I personally would not run NT on anything less the a Pentium 120 with 32megs of ram, so bigger/faster drives can usually be used as well as boot CDs. I've OS/2 v3 with v4 server network client on a 486DX2/66 with 16megs of ram. It's not the fastest. Probably similar to win95B I'd say …

Lol yeah 20megs is certainly not enough. My first 286/16 had a 40meg IDE hdd. Learnt very quickly it was too small and added a 240meg drive a year later which saw me well into the 90s with different mobos.

Everybody knows you use a 13mm socket on a 1/2" bolt. The OP is rright you don't need to fit EZDrive to each system for it to boot that cf card, hdd or what ever. Basic Linux 3 is a small distro based on Slackware 4.0. It can be installed to an ext2 partition and you add extra packages if you want. http://distro.ibiblio.org/baslinux/ They have links to Slackware ftp reposatories.

Cabling around the right way? Stripe towards pin 1. If the drive is unformatted and has no system files of course you'll get a boot error. I had one drive that gave that error and it hadn't been set to active in fdisk. Once set active it booted up SuSE 7.2.

EZDrive DDO works fine for using a 4gig hdd in my 386DX25. It's small and quick. Install it and select Type 2 in the Bios hdd settings. There's something definitely wrong if Ontrack takes 5minutes to load. It was only a few seconds on my 386 before I replaced it with EZDrive.

Depends on the program. The programs from the TVA Katter archive should run without issues. Other programs will need supporting file such as the help files that are kept in a particular directory. The program will moan if it needs extra files.
