The kernal386 error is an obvious clue I guess. Quicktime expects to run on a 386 0r higher by the looks.

Cool. The PC Geos SDK had been available as free for quite some time. It was at the original TVG Katter site. Minimum requirement was an NT box. . Geos is a standard mode GUI and does not open Dos windowed. Standard operation for Geos2 is if you select command.com it will shell you out to the Dos …

Hdds would be the go. External ones are quite cheap these days. I've got a lot of older hhds here less than 500gigs and all of them were fine apart from one gave up the ghost during recent testing.

Makes sense. In emulation you can try out all sorts of software from a variety of platforms. I'm just with a lot of space and time on his hands.

Did the same on my 1989 era 386DX25 on a 4gig drive. Used EZDrive DDO. Works nicely using Dos. Tested it on a 286 and booted fine. IJust set the drive type to Type 2 on the oldies. It's a good way of getting maximum usage out of those old hdds.

Tried installing from any other CD? Might even be the cdrom driver. Try a different one, something a bit closer to the period win/wfw 3.11 was common.

Going through my old hdds to see if they still function. 2 to around 6gig. Taken over the kitchen table. Using a P1 166 testing mobo which picks them quite nicely and has cd boot function. Went through my Acorn A4000s to see what works and what doesn't and if there is any battery damage. good news no damage. Bad news all have some fault. As well as the small amount of memory original IBM EGA cards were pretty crappy compared to the clones. Most vintage computer forums I visiyt come to that conclusion. VGA came out in !987 with the IBM PS/2 lineup.

Inventorying my Acorn parts and came across a fdd 5.25" to 3.5" adapter. No idea what is was doing amonst the Acorn stuff because they all have 3.5" fdds.
