Could you please post a picture of the card and ram chips? I haven't seen a 8900B with 256KB VRAM and 8 empty sockets before. Did you add with 256KB chips? That's probably too big for 8900B to handle.

Weird problem on a K6-3+'s BF2 setting

I just noticed one of my K6-3+ is having problem with its BF2 setting. The CPU won't boot when BF2 is pulled high. On GA-5SMM the pin is set by a 2-state dip switch, so it's either high or low, and high won't work. On P5A-B the pin is set by a 3-pin jumper, so it can be high, low, or open. Again …

I've run into similar problem with GA-5SMM and it turned out to be poor contact between the BIOS chip and the socket. Problem solved after I polished the metal contacts. A diagnosis card might be helpful in this kind of situation. P5A with SIMM... Never saw that before.
