There was apparently a vendor Microsoft listened to that allowed 2G RAM maximum but not all machines could do it. I'd recommend using system.ini tweaks for it (without unofficial patching.) An engineer known as Rudolph Loew released many patches for win9x that were stable. He has passed away and …
