Re: S3 Savage4 xtreme fake videocards?

It might be also possible that fan lifetime specs were/are not exactly great many times.. I understand that heat is worse but I'd expect manufacturer to actually choose good quality fan and instead even in the past it wasn't that difficult to see fan to begin to fail soon. Maybe they can be fixed …

Re: S3 Savage4 xtreme fake videocards?

As soon as I get the IDE-SD adapter I'll try my card that sure is an Extreme one but from old discussion/memories it should be 166/166. Anyway my Number Nine AGP SR9 has 6ns SGRAM memories and PCB built late 1999. The benchmark numbers are the above posted. Also I've a Diamond Stealth III with 16MB …

Re: S3 Savage4 xtreme fake videocards?

It might have been just a feeling but I remember having a Voodoo3 2000 video card with an old video bios version and after the update to latest bios I remember having the feeling video output quality improved. I can't say if just a feeling as said but I always wondered if that might have been a real …

Re: S3 Savage4 xtreme fake videocards?

@386SX If you can, please check the Core/Memory frequencies on your card :) S3 cards were OK, nothing wrong with them apart from poor drivers at the beginning. Performance wise I would consider the S3 Savage4 to be in the range of a Voodoo Banshee, definitely not in the realm of the V3. I'll check …

Re: S3 Savage4 xtreme fake videocards?

I've seen fairly often pop up on eBay the Xtreme card from Number9. From what I've heard, you can tell the Xtreme card from the "normal one" because it has DVI instead of VGA output. Maybe you should search for one of those :) I think to remember if anyone can confirm, the code on the right that …

Re: Intel G41 Express and Win 8.x drivers

They work even if I was expecting better results for such iGPU; at least power wattage is lower without a PCI-E video card, the system on idle demand only 45 watts vs the previous 57 watts with the GT610 and under stress it ask like 30 watts less. They came with Windows Update only as I read in a …

Re: Intel G41 Express and Win 8.x drivers

Nothing helping you out here? https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/products/81517/graphics/legacy-graphics/graphics-drivers-for-intel-g41-express-chipset.html It looks like there're drivers for XP 64bit and the some for Win 7 64bit under the G31 page link but not that latest version ( …

Intel G41 Express and Win 8.x drivers

Hello, I'm trying to install this integrated GPU into Win 8.1 and I had the latest but seems old version of the drivers for Win 7 x64 version 8.15.10.1892 but I've seen on a Microsoft Update Catalog page there're some more recent updated WDDM 1.1 files version .2702. Are those cab file installation …

Re: S3 Savage4 xtreme fake videocards?

Could it be that that PCB manufacturer just used some late 2000 Extreme chips that would run @ lower freqs cause cheaper ram modules? Anyway I have the Number Nine real Extreme version and beside the DVI output not working with the monitor I have but working with a DVI-VGA adapter, it's a nice card …

Interesting it's like the old logic of going somewhere walking instead with a car searching for a parking place or waiting a bus. Nowdays some people would choose the digital road for everything even for the most basic stuff like when I hear about people ordering their food on some phone app instead …

Even the 386 laptop in the basement of a friend's house fascinated me. Was that a real thing or am I imagining things? I suppose there were 80386 based notebook but I never saw one back in those days. I had a 386 laptop briefly, and while it was amazing trying a laptop that I could carry around for …

I missed the 80's time correct computers cause I didn't even had one beside I knew about the Commodore 64 still popular in those days. I missed the Doom, Doom II and Quake period cause still having a cheap slow 80386 computer when I was still using MS-DOS and Win 3.1 until Windows 98 and the K6-2 …
