Re: Prince of Persia II

Maybe Nicht can tell you where you might be able to buy it. If i remember correctly mine was clearance-rack item at Half-Price books. Generally speaking, Prince of Persia 2 and Prince of Persia Collection both include the PC and the Macintosh versions. That was the bonus. I remember trying it on …

Re: VDMSound + Albion = doesn't work

install.scr (install script) and does haven't got anything to do with the main game itself after installation Yes, but we're looking for anything different. I've attached the install script from mine. Any game that you know that doesn't work with XP's built in SB emu but works with VDMSound ? …

Re: QEMM vs UMBPCI

Nicht Sehr Gut said: Um. Enabling EMS? ... But it's only any good for XMS really, isn't it? Enabling EMS is hardly a big deal. You just enable EMM386. EMM386 and UMBPCI are consistently stable and compatible. QEMM has a long history of "issues" with OS's due to the way it tinkers with memory. Once …

Re: Help with vesa

That sounds unnecessary cryptic. ...in the response to... If you break your PC trying any of this (although I'm not saying it's possible, I'm not saying it's not), I can't be held responsible That is a disclaimer. There are so many variables when it comes to PC's, there is always the possibility of …

Re: VDMSound + Albion = doesn't work

These are the first lines from my readme (Albion v1.38): ************************************** * Additional documentation to * * ALBION * * English version (25.7.1996) * ************************************** Well that may be the key, mine is: ************************************** * Additional …

Re: Oops!

All the patches (and indeed the extra tracks and cars) are still available from UbiSoft. However they are not linked off their website. Appreciate that, thanks. Now all I need is for someone to point me to the super-secret archive of older SEGA-PC titles. If I go to SEGA-PC, there's almost nothing. …

Re: SS1 & XP

in DOS
I tried Kuno's mem settings in xp pro. The intro played great but when starting the game I got the usual email cursor error. Those settings are for Win98. They will not "fix" the problem it has with any NT-based OS like XP. There is no way to run qemm in win xp is there? I will try anything once. …

Re: Launchpad hanging up DOS games?

Well I tried changing "fixPOPF = 1" to 0, but that seems to have no effect. I'm starting to suspect that all of my audio problems are related to the CMI8738 chip on my cheapo sound card. Even on the Win98 side I seem to missing audio half the time. UPDATE: That was a mistake. Changing to zero …

Re: VDMSound + Albion = doesn't work

He means the checksum files. Ok, that was the key apparently. I thought it knew to compare with the location I was using with the CRC file. When I check Vex's MD5 and SFV against my Albion: D:\ALBION\DRIVERS\DOS4GW.EXE FILE NOT FOUND D:\ALBION\DRIVERS\SETSOUND.vlp FILE NOT FOUND D:\ALBION\INSTALL. …

Re: SAM & MAX (Wrong Sounds Play)

By that I presume you mean the latest dvd case one? This must be the recent re-release I had heard about in Europe. I had thought someone had said it was a DVD, but apparently it's just a DVD "package". I remember the guy who bought it was plenty hacked off as he had expected that these were Win9x …

Re: Duke Nukem

Well, DosFreak, you've got to remember that most VESA games don't usually run above 640x480,... Well, 800x600 isn't all that uncommon. ...and if they do, they DEFINITELY aren't intended to run above 1024x768. True. 1024x768 seems to be the point of “diminishing returns”. Going up to 1600x1200 just …

Re: blood on glidos

Unregistered wrote: If blood one whole unit cant run 3dfx then how come i got it to work on old my voodoo banshee Like I said, lucky fluke. When the patch was made the Banshee didn't even exist. I also tried this with a Voodoo Rush and got the same results.

Re: Launchpad hanging up DOS games?

I think I'll package a new release (with launchPad) relatively soon. hopefully with Win9x support as well. Good to hear. I'll keep "Basic VESA support" as-is, and include NOLFB in AUTOEXEC when it is enabled. Are you sure on this? I thought NOLFB's performance wasn't consistent enough for universal …

Re: Launchpad hanging up DOS games?

... so this should make its way into the next version of VDDLoader.dll. Any chance you could make it an all-in-one package at this point? You could have it default to the 3 primary installs: VDMSound, update 1 files, GUI Launchpad, but the leave individual files available for download with the …
