Re: Forum

Be cautious what you ask for... It's been less than a week, I'm sure that it will grow to an almost un-manageable size very quickly. And yes, summertime traditionally means less time with a computer and more with the "real world" (more so with summer holidays).

Re: Basilisk II

I do remember that getting the OS transferred and installed is the worst part. You can download the PDF Guide at: http://thetechnozone.com/pcbuyersguide/software/system/BasiliskII.html It's about 11 Megs (compressed) though... Chapter 3 covers the basic install info. Might be better off with the …

Re: 3dfx/Glide

A different wrapper ran the racing demo fine (both sides displayed), but turned the Egyptian room into nothing but shades of blue. Actually, I've come to find out that the "Blue" Egyptian Room demo was running correctly. It tests colored lighting on the texture mapping. So far the "Unified Wrapper" …

Re: 3dfx/Glide

Bleah... Just finished digging through a lot of Glide DLL's, control panels,etc... trying to come up with Glide wrapper to replace my age-old Voodoo card. Very, very messy. I can't really make sense of the results either. I have a dozen pages or so, just need to figure what to do with them. Hrmm.

Re: NV-1

Wow. I have never heard of this before in my life. How old is it? It must be from nVidia's infancy. (As far as I'm concerned, their TNT was their first real product.) The "Edge3D" (from Diamond MultiMedia) was certainly real, it certainly cost me real money. It was pre-Voodoo (actually I think may …

Re: Cli2Nop...Hrmmm

in DOS
Well there's a big problem with that since CLI is a single byte instruction 0xFA. You can't just go search for that byte and replace it with another instruction like NOP or something. Big chance you'd seriously screw up a lot of other things Well that apparently is the problem. I was suggesting a …

Re: VDMSound forum to OGoNS?

I think the best thing would be to leave Vlad's present forum in place. It's good for the type of the posts that you wouldn't to keep permanently and doesn't require you to "sign up" to ask a question. That may seem like a trivial thing, but after countless sign-ups and passwords to remember...a …

Re: 3dfx/Glide

I believe so, but that was when I was plugging in files fast and furious in an attempt to get it working quickly. I've come to find that this is much like trying to roast a turkey quickly by dousing it in gasoline and setting it on fire. When I have any kind of real results, I'll post them.

Cli2Nop...Hrmmm

in DOS
Cli2Nop is something of a mystery to me. Actually, it’s more like a container of extremely potent chemicals that could be quite handy and yet, quite hazardous to your health. The container is poorly labeled and rumored to be leaking. For NT/2000 owners however, this is their only option (without …

Re: 3dfx/Glide

Tested GliDOS, but I wasn't referring to it in my text. From Paul Gardiner: Glidos is not really a Glide Wrapper. All it does is pipe the Glide commands from DOS to Windows. The Glide emulation is actually done by OpenGlide which can be found inside the Glidos folder in the form of Glide2x.dll It …

3dfx/Glide

Looking for expertise on 3dfx/Glide emulation. I've heard grand success stories with little-to-no-detail and numerous complete failures as well. From the experimenting I've done, I've come to the conclusion that 3dfx/Glide emulation _can_ be done. The keys seem to be carefully tracking what you're …

Basilisk II

Does anyone know whats up with the Win32 version of Baslisk II? The emulator is very well developed, but I had hoped that there would be some ongoing tweaks to fix some (for me) non-working titles. IE: Prince of Persia looks great in 640x480, but there's some kind of latency (?) issue that causes …

Worst Memory Pig...ever

(Migrating this thread from the VDMSound page) Does anyone have a list of the absolute worst "Conventional Memory" pigs out there? These are the ones that need about 600K of conventional memory, yet still need CD-ROM and mouse (and possibly VESA and/or Soundcard drivers) as well. So far the worst …
