X58 also supports SLI, on some boards at least. But you need GPU driver new enough to recognise the X58 chipset and then allow SLI. Old drivers for GF6/7/8 for instance only work on nForce chipsets.

I had the virus warning with the version 2.6.0 (using Windows Defender). After few days, it no longer reported the executable as infected, so I believe it was false alarm that was fixed at the Microsoft side. I have been using the VCS 2.6.0 since then almost every day and it works perfectly.

I don't know about plain MPC, but MPC HC definitely can use h264 HW decoder if the GPU supports it. If DXVA is active, it shows "Playing [H/W]" in the bottom left corner of the window. Nice mod! Although as far as I know, there is no DDR2 or GDDR2 chips in TSOP package. They are in BGA package only. So you replaced the original slow DDR chips with faster ones, but still DDR (1).

Yes, PowerColor. It is one of the least common Voodoo4, so definitely worth fixing. And as mwdmeyer said, without mods it is 3.3V AGP only.

71.84 should support 6600 GT, for example. Also, if the installer can't detect your card properly, you can always install the driver directly drom the device manager.
