Re: My Pentium MMX machine

3.4V is too much in my opinion. I would not go above 3.2V for benchmarks and even a bit less for normal operation. As for the 300 MHz goal - it is not as easy as it sounds. Not many MMX's can reach it. You need a very good piece for that... if you don't have it, then no matter what you do, it simply …

Re: 8GB of DDR1 in a socket 939 system

At the moment I'm working on another round of CPU benchmarks. The plan is to test (relatively) new software on old CPUs - so windows 7 x64 and plenty of RAM (at least 4GB) is a must have. Using four 1GB DDR modules to get 4GB @ socket 939 is not what I want, so I decided to try two 2GB ECC Reg DDR …

Re: DOSBox 0.74 CPU Benchmark (Quake)

Yes, both 320x200 and 800x600 @ viewsize 120. And my CPU really was working at 3.2 GHz most of the time during DOSBox testing. No idea why but SuperPI works only @ 3.2 as well. Maybe cooling limitation? Quadcore i7 in 14'' laptop is not easy to keep cool.

Re: DOSBox 0.74 CPU Benchmark (Quake)

demo1 @ 800x600 = 35 fps Core i7 2760QM @ 3.2 GHz (win7-64) Data for 320x200 is obligate too according to current measure procedure, as viewsize 120. Xeon E5-1650 is more interesting as exotic. 320x200 + viewsize 120 = 105.4 fps I don't have the xeon at hand currently, I will post results later. It …

Re: DirectX 9.0c build

Can you think of any real world games that benefit from a quad-core CPU? Possibly some really late DirectX 9.0 games? There are DX9 games that benefit from quad core. From top of my head - Call of Duty 5 and GTA IV... I can't remember anything else, but it is likely there are more. And of course …
