Re: Did I kill AWE64 Gold or did it die by itself?

Okay, removed faulty IC and now negative voltage regulator outputs proper -5 volts. Going to test that quad OP amp IC, maybe just one of the amps had failed. Also, I could not find mixers datasheet or pinout, thus I do not know where exactly OP amp connects and what purpose it has in circuit. Could …

Re: Gravis UltraSound : Classic Found With Open Traces

#1 is there a chance the chips were untouched by the extra voltage? #2 Once the Traces are bridged, is there a chance I will damage a motherboard that I will test this card in? 1. There was no extra voltage; 2. +5V rail traces would burn in different locations on the sound card. Something is dead- …

Did I kill AWE64 Gold or did it die by itself?

Not too long ago, I got a working sample of AWE64 Gold (CT4540), which I've decided to test today more thoroughly. Installed card into the P1 MMX system with Win95C and tried to test all available MIDI synthesizers under the MIDI tab in Multimedia settings, with MIDI file playing in the background. …

Re: Voodoo-3 Evil King Pro Repair

Maybe you should leave those cards for the future repair, because anyone, at least somewhat experienced in electronics, can clearly see that you don't have enough experience in this field and had never reflowed BGAs the proper way. Learning to do that on rare PCI V3s is not the best idea.

Re: Need help repairing a Radeon 9800pro

WVII part doesn't exist in sot-23 package, it's probably a WV4 which would be a dual schottky diode. Here's the datasheet to that PWM: http://pdf.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheet2/2/045w6qsry74ax1h6ddqrwtxr403y.pdf In pg. 2, D1 and D2 are bootstrap diodes, see if traces either from pin 3 or 25 lead to …

Re: Did I damage My Voodoo Banshee PCB

You didn't get the joke, oh well :( my questions is if any of the tracks around the silicone GPU dye are broken will this render it faulty? Not necessarily, some of them might be unused (NC) or could be few of many VCCs or VDDs, no one will be able to tell you what exacly got damaged. It would be …

Re: Need help repairing a Radeon 9800pro

Judging by the massive ferite chokes and mostfet count, you probably have a R9800XT there. Missing cap should be just a bypass cap between 3.3 and 10uF (any of them in that range would do the job) and diode is probably a dual schottky which is used for bootstrapping. Use a DMM and PWM ICs datasheet …
