Yes, you can use 19200 Baud and get improved mouse movement on serial.

Isnt that a VIA C7 ? so there are no Windows 9x Drivers. The Chrome GPU has no proper drivers for current linux variants. And Binary Driver also was never good (older Distributions only)

IIRC the MX4000 was the replacement for the MX440, the 4000 being the newer of the two. i definitve would replace PCI Card with an AGP, it will give huge boost. But don`t buy a MX4000 if you buy. Rather get a GeForce 4 MX460 for budget or better grab a 3TI/4TI. For a Athlon 700 why not install …

yes, of course its worth it. The MX4000 is one of the worst GeForce Cards. And PCI is even further Crippled. Asus V7700 32Mb GeForce 2 was running Circles around my MX4000..

I think the Max i got is 1600x1200 with Radeon 9000 (Which is basicly rebrand of 8500) Well i just would go for a Radeon HD AGP and use HDMI Output 😉 My Athlon XP has HD3450 512Mb, its decent enough for 2002/3 Gaming

The Datasheet you read is for different IC they simply have same Name. Its no way a ICS1493, this is SMD Chip and much more modern. It did not even exist back then :-) Its a Custom ASIC. Ah sorry i was thinking about clone. Normal dss has no ne555. Well I would first start with cleaning the VR. Spill it with isopropyl alcohol and turn it bit forward and back. https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p=506251#p506251 Can you see the small foil capacitor (green) maybe it is the issue here …

maybe variable resistor is dirty or capacitor on ne555 is aged. Replacing them should fix it if you have a scope check output frequency of NE555 it should be around 7Khz
