Hello! Does anyone knows how to disable internal FM on Crystal CS4236/7/8/9 inside windows 98, so I can use an external OPL3 synth? I can do it with debug, but after opening another software it turns back to normal internal FM, it seems that windows totally ignores eeprom. Thanks!

Voodoo5 for me at least is like a collectors item, like voodoo4 4500. For 32bit colour, there are a lot more better options. Like geforce, kyroII etc. Voodoo3 for retro is very good. I would stick with voodoo3.

There is a cs4239 card for sale on Deutsch ebay lindy brand. Also cs4238 exists, only differs in 3d sound from cs4237.

A good card with a CS4232/6/7/8/9 is a good and still cheap card. Avoid at all cost the cs4235 card. Also seek for a card with a decent design if you can. Like a TB Tropez plus or a TB Malibu64.

ISA cards, I would go Turtle Beach, Guillemot, Terratec, Audiotrix. They are all better than soundblaster, of course depending on models.

Problem with your cs4232 card is the low quality construction. It uses motherboard oscillator, poor ground and power planes and cheap amp design, if you get a s23 or a Tropez plus, you will notice big difference.
