The thing is, a lot of these games have different versions. Take Cannon Fodder: you got the version which includes the intro but also one without the intro. I stopped running DOS games in Windows since 0.70 - with a wide-screen monitor, the image gets stretched while in Dosbox, you can run it in a window box.

I know that my copy of Screamer crashes now and then but I always play in high-res mode - haven't had it crash in 0.72 though but that may just be coincidence.

PCI64 16 and 128 use the same DOS drivers so why would it sound better on the SB64 ? It all sounds wrong - a lot of midi music in games use the wrong instruments.

If you try to get enough conventional memory on a modern system within Windows 95/98 you're going to have a real hard time finding drivers. Wow I didn't know there was a DOS version of this game. I'll need to see if the one I have has DOS support too. I never tried it anymore because I don't rate its chances of running well in XP.

Just a remark: there's a version of XCom floating around the net that indeed lacks music/sound in DOSBOX - there's also another version that works perfectly. My CD version also works perfectly so I'd guess it's a bad rip or a rip that DOSBOX doesn't like.
