Re: E6600 or wait for Q6600

No games really push the E6600 yet - hell, how many games make use of the two cores? Let alone 4 cores. Most games run off one core and I believe one core on the E6600 or Q6600 is about as powerful? So for a game running on one core you won't even find a difference.

Re: Duke Nukem 2

What I do, is put all the files on the disks in seperate folders and then use one "installation folder". I first copy disk 1 files in there, start installing, then when it asks for disk 2, I delete the disk 1 files in the installation folder, copy the ones of disk 2 there, and press CTRL F4. Then …

Re: Bashing Valve, Steam and id Software

For Quake Wars, the engine was modified again, just like they did for Return to Castle Wolfenstein: "MegaTexture is a texturing technique, developed by John Carmack at id Software, that is used in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars that promises to eliminate common texture bugs and glitches found in …

Re: Bashing Valve, Steam and id Software

Moleculor, the Source engine is heavily based on the old Quake engine - I thought everyone knew this. Or do you think it's coincidence that the Source engine can be used by the same editor? Even the in-game console commands remained. Valve probably altered the code enough to not having to pay id …

Re: New DOSBox Frontend - DOSBox Game Launcher

Is there a way to disable the JRE detection thingy? I installed 1.6.0 and it complains that it can't find 1.5. Unable to locate JRE meeting specification "1.5" Sorry - you don't seem to have the required version of the Java Runtime Environment [JRE] installed. DBGL requires at least JRE 1.5 to run. …

Re: Bashing Valve, Steam and id Software

Return to Castle Wolfenstein was not made by id but by Grey Matter. id Software "assisted" but I think it was mainly engine alterations (apparantly the Quake III engine had to be modified to be able to handle Wolfenstein's open areas). id Software engines have always been rather weak when it comes …

Re: Steam (Valve) using Dosbox for its "id Super Pack"

id Software have become cockier and cockier in the last few years - a while ago they announced that they would focus on consoles mainly while it was the PC that got them as far as they did. They blame PC piracy for it, and I belive that. Not to say there's piracy on the consoles too, there is, but …

Re: Ultima 8 doesn't like me

Check to see if any files are write protected - Ultima may use a file to point to all savegames like a lot of old games did so the savegames may be there, but if the file is write protected, it won't want to save the name of the savegame etc.
