I also ended up finding and buying a Cardinal Sound Studio which should be similar but I need to replace the caps on it as there was electrolyte all over the board when I received it. Bad stick of RAM? Could also be a bad IDE cable... but with the bad sectors always appearing near the end of the drive, it sounds more like a bad stick of RAM.

Ok, I'm going to have to do some testing. Been a while since I actually messed with one of these cards. FM will work regardless of anything else as it uses neither IRQ or DMA. What is the exact system / motherboard you are using this in? Also, have you checked for BIOS updates for the motherboard?

Not to sound like a troll, but if you aren't overpaying for either underpowered and/or overheating and difficult to upgrade or repair hardware with a cute GUI, you are not getting the full (modern) Apple experience . Probably just a reflection, especially since I am guessing they are taking the pic through a plastic film that is keeping the chip sealed in the strip it is/was part of.
