Re: no sound on HP T5710 win98se

I just pulled some SMD caps that were physically the correct size off of a junk board and mounted them to the riser. The spots will be labeled C(whatever) on whatever board you decide to pull them off of. Or you could measure the pads on the riser and order some but I doubt it would make any …

Re: no sound on HP T5710 win98se

I'm going to buy a different creative, with lower specs, to see if that works... mine needs PCI 2.1 and maybe thats part of the problem... I cant get a Solo, way too expensive for me to get... And I'll order a riser just like the one Phil used too next, after that I'm sticking with the internal …

Re: no sound on HP T5710 win98se

Just tried that... Had the same capacitors arround, populated the riser card... and no change at all... My Sound Blaster Live 5.1 SB0100 works fine in another desktop, borrowed from a friend today, and works flawlessly... The sound on that desktop is onboard and so I don't have access to another …

Re: The most RAM I have ever had in a computer

Finally, a thread where Intel486dx33 doesn't contribute anything about iPads (no offense, your information is still worth reading) Back on topic, it's not surprising that 24GB RAM is the most memory anyone would ever see on a computer. Some people use 64GB RAM, even though they might not …

Re: The most RAM I have ever had in a computer

Try my old prime number sieve program. It can use that much RAM and more. It can also use more CPU cores than any computer has.. except for maybe some of the super computers. Even then, the current theoretical limit of threads is (2^32)-1.. and that is only because I used a 32-bit unsigned integer …

Re: PCMCIA Sound Cards

Ok... not 100% sure about how stuff is setup when they changed the name to Miles Sound System. However, if you have a game that has some file that have a .dig extension and uses SETSOUND.EXE to setup the sound device, you should be able to add Wavejammer support to it if it doesn't already support …

Re: PCMCIA Sound Cards

... the Wavjammer as a good number of DOS late 486/early Pentium era games have direct support for it.. I was trying to find games that actually support the Wavjammer card. As I understood theese are games that have AIL/Miles Sound System support: https://www.mobygames.com/game-group/sound-engine- …

Re: Sound Blaster Pro 2.0 high pitched whine when playing Midi files and buzzing when moving cursor in Windows 95

My CT2290 also picks up ISA bus interference in the form of hisses and clicks on 286-386-486 motherboards. It's just the way Creative Labs junk rolls. The real problem is that the motherboards should have good filtering designed into them. So it wasn't just Creative's problem. Get a board that …
