Re: FastDoom. A new Doom port for DOS, optimized to be as fast as possible for 386/486 personal computers!

Quick question regarding a feature. "New option to show only objects that are not far away from the player. All the enemies are still rendered as they're important" Does that mean that Doom normally renders objects and/or enemies for a whole level? Or is there some limit to the distance each level …

Re: FastDoom. A new Doom port for DOS, optimized to be as fast as possible for 386/486 personal computers!

I mean the mask pitch is of course still relevant, as well as the spot size. There was a whole big thread on shumps about this a while back I'm surprised you missed it https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=67124 oh no, I didn't miss that thread, but I thought that was about wrapping extra …

I'll entertain your white-noise comment with what happens if you start doom2 MAP27 with FDOOMEGA without MODE16.WAD, relying on the PLAYPAL and COLORMAP lumps from DOOM2.WAD instead: https://i.imgur.com/PvKJJ0S.png How gracious of you your majesty. 🙄 Anyway, I see how much better the colors are now …

Since this is effectively a cheat You can't possibly be serious? The non-VGA versions are so difficult to see compared to anything higher resolution that it's already insanely more difficult to make out what's going on no matter how "bright" it appears. Your own screenshots show how little good the …

Re: FastDoom. A new Doom port for DOS, optimized to be as fast as possible for 386/486 personal computers!

I got the sound working in Staging. I had to go into the config and turn off the filters for soundblaster and opl. I'm not sure why that worked, but it did. They were set to default, so that should have been the same as regular DOSBox, but it made a difference for some reason. I wish I had more time …

Re: blood 1 mouselook

You probably know this already, but if not, there are two *excellent* modern Windows remakes of the Blood game engine; BuildDGX and NBlood . Using either of these fixes all of the problems and limitations of the original DOS engine. Interested. One thing I would like is to overcome the lousy …
