For the first card in the thread; did you use es968.com in config.sys? It performs some P&P tasks and enables the MPU. Needed it for my ES1688 +ES968 to get it going. For the Gold-16, have you tried toggling the software address jumper? And check if it's doing SB-MIDI through port 220.

I see this is based on the ESS1688. Is it possible to use the Eiger Labs/Fujitsu 16-bit Stereo Sound drivers instead? I believe ESS provided DMA-less drivers for PCMCIA cards and laptops like the OmniBook 600C.

The datasheet for the ALS007 is not available, but mine doesn't do high DMA. Reading the datasheet of the ALS100 makes me think the high DMA is being used for full duplex/recording only and not in the way the original SB16 uses it.

I created an equalizer preset for Yucatan FX! I tried to get a more balanced sound and avoid any clipping for max quality. In addition, i added a 'Low' version for very sensitive soundcards. Yes I have those currently in use. I checked the MIDs to see what Sysex was being used but MIDI events are used instead. I was hoping there would be a Sysex option for added flexibility and additional tools to use.

Is it possible to do the same (Sysex) for the equalizer? Currently using the Yucatan Presets. I checked the SAM9793 user guide (can't find the 9733 one) but I'm not able to figure out the logic.

Ah that's good to know. I've noticed that the DB50XG and the Yucatan FX/Cancun FX often sound reversed in comparison to the Dream Blasters when used on the same hardware. They do sound correct when used on Sound Blaster 16 models en Turtle Beach cards. I will dig up my ExpertColor MED3700 YMF719 …

Can you bench them in Windows? Perhaps Windows throttles the system giving your a smoother experience but limiting the max. performance where DOS goes all out and running into trouble. Perhaps related to real/protected modes? Although Doom runs in protected mode...
