Optimize Quake and GL_Quake for a 486?

Hi guys - I've been wondering - is there any way to compile GL_Quake in such a way that it would be optimised to run on a 486 rather than e pentium?

Ok, I tried 98lite, no performance increase in GL_Quake whatsoever. Still 16.8 fps vs 18.5 fps in win95

Well I hit a wall - again. Anyone come up with any other ideeas? What about Human interface device drivers for Win95? Din any company make such drivers? Is there a service pack (official or not) witch provides such functionality? Could they be ripped from windows 98 and installed on 95?

ODwilly, Why do you say S754 has the advantage of DDR400? S462 3200+ by default has 200MHz FSB and thus needs DDR400 to unleash its full potential. I don't know about other chip sets, but nforce2U400 works very well with synchronous FSB/DDR ratio and switching from DDR333 to DDR400 does make a …

I believe the K8T890 chipset's associated south bridge has the sata bug, but it was fixed in later revisions.
