Just ordered a NEC MultiSync 2170NX - 21.3", 1600x1200 with a S-PVA panel and a Dell Optiplex GX400 (socket 423 / rimm) from a local romanian shop selling old / refurbished computers. The monitor was 50$ - I'll post pics of it tomorrow when I get it.

I'd refrain from installing dx 9 on win98. It can cause all sorts of issues. 8.1 is as far as I go since I found it breaks compatibility with some older games / software, and it's almost impossible to roll back from, usually requiring a complete OS reinstall.

I performed similar tests on a DX4 and got slightly diferent results. In my tests the Paradise cards (WDC) got a 5% lead in PCP bench and 10% in doom over the ET4000AX.
