The Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD). I remember back in 2005 or so they announced that the technology would hit 1TB/disc and 1Gbit/s transfer speeds in 5 or so years. It didn't flopped exactly since it wasn't even released on the market, but I'd love to see it anyways.

I unplug my main desktop and notebook from outlets whenever I leave home. Can't risk having a surge/electric discharge blowing my stuff up, even though I use small-scale surge supressors.

I used Firefox since its PR versions back in 2006-7 or so, at a K6-2 400MHZ w/ 128MB RAM. But back then sites with dynamic content were very few. Dynamic HTML is OK with older hw. Java and PHP will probably make your browsing experience frustrating.

Thermaltakes from Socket A era are pretty awesome - they can move massive amount of air. For newer fans, check their static pressure too. Don't remember the URL but there were a site that calculated the amount of airflow from some info you feeded into it.
