I haven't looked at the program, but you might have some success in running it on XP natively, without dosbox.

The latest DOS4GW.EXE is 2.01a. The game almost certainly has 1.94 or 1.97 or such. You may try with the latest version, google for it. I remember DOS4GW does not like it if your PATH environment variable is too long. Try doing Copy code to clipboard 1 set path= 2 war2 Also try running UNIVBE.

This is almost certainly a Win16 application, because they typically displayed "This program requires Microsoft Windows" when run in DOS. On the other hand, Win32 programs display "This program cannot be run in DOS mode". So there is no option to modificate this file to work in actual windows? It …

There are DOSBox forks (e.g. Daum) that have 3dfx support for DOS games, like Tomb Raider 1. I have no idea if this 3dfx emulation would work under Windows 95 run under DOSBox. What game are you trying to run and on what hardware?

I've been using DOSBox to listen to the (emulated) sound of various cards, and my conclusion was MT-32 > GUS > SB, depending on what the game allows. Keep in mind that DOSBox does *not* emulate AWE32/64 wavetable MIDI capability, only SB16. So you won't hear AWE wavetable sound out of DOSBox, and …

Try different settings for output= in dosbox.conf, like opengl, openglnb, ddraw.

It doesn't matter for DOS games at all, because you won't get 3D acceleration on GeForce in DOS anyways, unless using some kind of Glide wrapper for 3dfx games or such.

A relatively minor incident, a USB plug with an LED light in it (why? don't ask me..) started burning and smoking. Neither the USB port nor the printer on the other end of the cable were damaged.

As a result, these tall characters looked normal, but when seen on a screen which accurately shows the aspect ratio (such as in DOS Box, or the Windows command prompt) the characters end up looking "fat".
