One thing I do, is sometimes make back-up images with the free version of Macrium Reflect. It "trims" the drive when it does an image restore. I usually leave a gig free when I partition them anyway and like I said, the cost is so low, I don't really care.

I had exactly the same card and it died long before I'd have felt I'd had my monies worth out of it. Grrr. They fitted that huge cooler to it but left the bloody die shim on! Nicely restored paperweight.... 😁

Try using regular Voodoo drivers as the "fast" ones overclock the card. Maybe causing funky sh*t.

Check if the last two digits of the P/N end in less than 30 My Asus MB mentions problems if it does.

Chipset on my A8V Deluxe is a VIA K8T800 PRO. I've got a Radeon 9800 Pro that has a P/N ending in "00". Aye, all part of life's rich tapestry! Totally unconnected, but what's the last two digits of the P/N on your 9700? Just that I've a warning in the manual of my Asus MB in my Athlon rig. About using 9x cards that end in less than "30". Dunno why, it just says to prevent instabillity.

I had that 9500 of mine running in my Gigabyte BX board for a short while. I didn't have any problems with it. Probably a driver issue with yours, I was using much earlier drivers than the 6.2's.
