You can put the diode on the positive side and you want it so it let's power flow out of the battery to the motherboard. They usually have an arrow that shows it's directionally and you'd want it facing the motherboard so it blocks power flowing into the battery. You just need a blocking style diode …

I'd give it a shot honestly what's the harm. Even if I build a new system I'm still going to keep my E8600 775 system as I love that system and it still performs everything I do daily with ease and speed

I'd be shocked if it ran on my 775 system. I've been planing a Ryzen build the past few days but the lack of affordable graphics cards is kinda killing my plan

You can try installing dos on a new hard drive in a different machine and swap it into the laptop to see if it'll boot an OS.

I'm in the planning phase now hopefully it'll be a fall project. What's really surprising is that water blocks for the 775 socket are still available everywhere and even blocks for the 680i motherboards are still super easy to find and quite inexpensive as well

That card looks fantastic with that water block on it. I really love the look of EK parts. Probably overkill and would be considered a waste of money but I really want to water cool my C2D E8600 Nforce 680i system just cause I think it'll be a fun project

It definitely sounds like there's a bad solder joint. When you flex the pcb you temporarily fixing the connection. Most likely it's one of the solder balls under a ram chip or the GPU is cracked or damaged

I would check all of major chips to make sure that none of the legs are touching and shorting out. It's actually a quite common thing

The odds are your four monitors are fine and you have a bad ram module. With the right tools you can replace the bad ram and fix the card.
