Generally you have to hex edit the drivers as I believe PCI ids have to be inserted for your specific motherboard chipset. What chipset do you want to use?

Yamaha YMF7x4 Guide Yamaha PCI YMF-724 DOS Compatibility Thread It has good DOS compatibility but can be picky over what motherboard it works with. PC/PCI is the best option. Sometimes using modified drivers works.

Instead of doing this, use ISOLINUX and MEMDISK (maybe Rufus does this automatically) to boot a Win98SE floppy, copy the cabs over to a directory on the target HDD, and run the install. So much more convenient for any future hardware changes.

Well, IMO Pulseaudio is awful but Jack is pure sex. I've never had any buffer glitching with it and CPU usage is reasonable. If you have a chance to look at it, let me know what you think.
