Is it worth it to build a 486 66 or 133 machine using VLB vs SOcket 7 with level 1 and 2 disabled? Trying to figure out about compatibility ? Or am I better off getting a socket 7 with say 133-233mhz disabling the cache and using a tnt mh64 PCI video card? using a sony trinitron CRT thanks

You can try swapping the TEA2025B, it's not entirely implausible for them to go bad. You can probably scrap some off cheap clone sound cards (just don't waste a card that's actually better than an SB16). Also, dumb question, but you made sure the RSPK_EN jumper is set (closed), right? (If …

So got a few CT1740s 1 out of the 3 boards has stereo sound and works perfectly. Checked all the caps on the other 2 boards using a ESR meter, found a few bad caps and replaced them. Yep just verified in the manual no JV1 Header by the ATX Connector on the mobo I am pretty sure my jumpers were set correctly for a 233mhz mmx

I had the very same issue with Gainward 5VPA with VIA MPV3. It did nothing. After changing FSB/multiplier/memory jumpers back and forth suddenly it just woke up. Those things can be tricky and there are about a million things to check. Maybe I would just remove all jumpers and re-install them …
