I actually have WfW 3.11 on a SS7 board with a K6-2. I've got an AWE64 Value and an S3 Trio64, which both have drivers for 3.11 - makes for quick and capable 3.11/DOS machine, actually.

I get most of my stuff from a smaller recycler in St. Catharines, I often get parts for scrap value or near enough to it, especially on older parts. That said, I'm still at the mercy of what gets dropped off and generally can't test what I get, at least not beyond "does it power on"

1) I actually really like the sound of ESFM. 2) my guess would be an small AT board with either a socket 5 or early socket 7 Pentium. No idea on the rest, it looks like it might have seen some upgrades at some point.

That kinda looks like an ASUS CUV4X or similar board. VIA Chipset Asus board, at any rate, is my guess.

I've got an Asrock 4CoreDX90-VSTA with a PCI-e Radeon x700 working quite well with Windows ME. It's in the in-law's retro LAN, running Outlaws (with the beta Direct3D patch) and a few other games from the era. No problems so far.

From what I recall, the ESS cards have either an exact OPL3 clone or the ESSFM chip which I find actually sounds a bit richer than a real OPL3.
