Thanks keropi. I disabled the "intelligent" mode in dosbox and got a "Could not open MIDI Interface" like on the real machine, so it indeed needs more than UART. The DUMP batch files also don't work. It appears that all these are made for an Intelligent MPU-401 port or the real Roland MPU-401 …

Thanks Phil. I just wonder why SCC-1 Utility doesn't work with the real hardware whether in dosbox it is. It is very comfy to run a .bat file to reset the SC-55 instead of reaching to the front panel.

Now I have the SC-55 connected to the gameport but I still have the Dreamblaster S1 connected to the header inside. How do you disable the Header MPU-401 without removing it?

Here is a nice experiment: The attached Midi file "Seasons" is part of the Windows 95 test midis. This little midi breaks the 28 sounds Polyphony capabilities of the SC-55 units and the last 3 instruments are cutting on and off. Falco, I would suggest moving soundfont banks (ctrl+0 to 9) to LSB because most GS instruments use MSB for variations as we know. Also, is there a master volume for sound fonts (not the master player volume)? I had to set 40% on each of the soundfonts to match volume to match my SC-55. Too high …
