Re: multitasking dos 6.22

in Milliways
Hey guys. Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I gave a try at the TSR midi player posted above by rfnagel, and even though I got it to work, the midi files I tried either didn't play (some didn't, most did) or sounded not very good. I suspect a different player could maybe give better results …

Re: multitasking dos 6.22

in Milliways
For the sake of completeness, it is probably worth pointing out that it is fairly trivial even in DOS to start playing an audio CD and keep it playing while doing other things, as that's just a feature of the CD-ROM hardware. Yeah. The cool thing is that you can start playback in DOS, then reboot …

Re: Fighting games with proper story mode

in Windows
From what I remember OMF did not have a story mode, it was just before each fight you saw the pilots saying something like " I will win!" But there was no proper story going on. Could I be wrong? Still thanks for sharing 😀

Re: Fighting games with proper story mode

in Windows
Yeah I know some for the newer systems, but I am looking for older stuff. Like I said, my machine is not very powerful so I am hoping for windows native games or some 8/16 bits console. Have been looking around but found nothing. One I am going to try is Eternal Champions on Sega CD seems good from …

Fighting games with proper story mode

in Windows
Hello everyone, I am looking for fighting games from he 80s/90s that have a proper story mode. Basically I am trying to find games where you have a FMV/pictures-with-sound-and-text intro to each character and get some more as you win fights and reach the final victory. I love (as an example) Virtua …

Re: Game Launcher for windows

Great! Who are the other 2? :-P Well, too bad, I would like to have the animated intro when windows is booting but I won't be taking time and resources by loading mplayer in dos. I will just have the wallpaper and the intro sound then. I will try to get a program that allows joystick to control the …

Re: Game Launcher for windows

Hey guys. So a quick update on my gaming machine. Seeing as I couldn't find a game launcher that suited my needs and since most of my games are sega games that were available for saturn, I decided to "customize" the machine a little bit. I added the Sega Saturn boot up sound to windows start and the …

Re: Windows 98 gaming machine - substitute for saturn/playstation

in Windows
Any particular point and click games you think would be suitable for this? I have been thinking about those "FMV games" where you are basically watching a movie and you must take certain decisions that will affect the outcome. But find them to be either too low quality or too heavy on resources. …

Re: Game Launcher for windows

in Windows
I'm sorry, you are right. I am looking for something that doesn't show as a windows folder, but instead you have all icons / posters of the games and you can just click one and enter the game. Think like having an arcade with several different games and you pick one. I would prefer something that …

Game Launcher for windows

in Windows
Someone asked in the Dos forum of a GUI game launcher for Dos. Personally I was using Xx (access). It was great. Too bad in Windows it doesn't seem to be working (most games crash opened there). Any game launcher / program launcher for Windows? Please keep in mind my machine is an old laptop. Can't …

Thanks for the replies. Yes, the Dos games are in my collection now too :) I have been able to play some games in 640x480 but yes, while some play perfect (Need for Speed doesn't even feels any different between resolutions) others play with lower fps or just plainly slow (Battle Arena Toshinden …

Windows 98 gaming machine - substitute for saturn/playstation

in Windows
Hello everyone, So, just like my previous thread about using my old Toshiba Satellite laptop a a gaming machine, I am now asking for suggestions for games that can be played in a low power windows 98 machine. (pentium 133mhz non-mmx, 64mbs ram, 2mbs graphics card). I am using a 98micro installation, …

Re: Dos gaming substitute for Playsation/Saturn etc

in DOS
Hey guys. Sorry for the delay on getting back to you. Thank you for all the suggestions. Well, I have since turned my dos gaming machine into a windows 98 gaming machine. I had no choice, in Dos I had no way to setup my usb gamepad and keyboard, due to lack of drivers (I have OHCI usb). I used …
